The Suffolk Skidaddlers Ski Club Inc. has been in existence for
more than 45 years. We are a totally volunteer club, registered in New
York State as a "not for profit" organization. Our membership,
throughout the last few years, has consistently been more than 600. We
require that you must be at least 21 years old to join the club.
Our membership is about an even mix between couples and singles. We do
not own nor do we have monetary interest in any lodge or similar
facility. We are a sport and health-orientated club. Primarily a ski
club, with more than 20 ski trips a season [SCHEDULE].
Day trips, weekend, and week-long trips. Bus, car or plane. We ski all
over the Northeast and the West of America. We ski the East and
Western areas of Canada, as well as France, Italy and Sweden.
Some of us ski. Some of us don't. Our ski trips, summer activities,
and Club functions ensure that throughout the entire year there is
always something to do with the Club. You won't find too many couch
potatoes in our Club.
We find that life has already given us so much to enjoy. The great
outdoors is forever new and exciting. And when you can share it with
great friends, it just makes it all just a little bit nicer.
We have general
meetings three out of four Wednesdays every month
[see
meeting schedule].
There is no requirement to attend meetings. All of our activities are
listed in our newsletter for your review.
However, the meetings are where it's happening. There are usually
about 20 ~ 100 members at our meetings. The meetings are definitely
worth coming to. Our meetings can never be called dull or repetitious.
Sometimes we don't even know where the meeting is going. But somehow
there is always a rhyme-or-reason for it all. New things come up.
Special discounts become available on a first come - first serve
basis. As we always end up saying, "if you snooze...you lose!"
All
of our functions are coordinated and controlled by the club.
Everything is organized and contracted months in advance. We receive
significant discounts because we start early, and always get group
discounts because we average 30 ~ 80 members on a trip. (With so many
skiers, we often bring our own "lift line" to the chair lifts!) The
savings the club receives go right to the members on our trips. The
only job you have to do on our club trips is...well...is just to show
up on time! Everything else is set up for you.
Our new members find they never feel "new". You can have as great a
time as you want. Sometimes a little bit more than you actually
thought you could. With more than 700 members it's hard to be alone or
left out. Whatever we are doing, whatever your ability, there is
always someone else who is there too.
